CREATE Makerspace

Building dreams

Student group with project

CREATE is the De Vargas campus makerspace — the first in the district. It is a resource for all students to support their Project Based Learning efforts. Even though all De Vargas classrooms are really makerspaces, CREATE offers a bit more room and access to tools and materials not kept in classrooms. We also offer daily "tinker time" during lunch and afterschool tinker time for students to work on projects of their choice.

Parents are welcome to tour CREATE. Please make an appointment with the office.

For more information about why and how we built CREATE, see The Story of CREATE.

*After-school tinker time requires a separate parent release form, which is posted on ParentSquare.

We need your support
Students use an enormous amount of materials in CREATE. Please consider saving and donating the following materials:

  • Paper towel and toilet paper tubes (all paper removed)
  • Rubber bands
  • PVC pipe and fittings
  • Egg cartons
  • Cylindrical oatmeal containers
  • Any small, safe, items in quantity. We can use a lot of the same thing, but we have no place to store single-item donations. (So please don't empty-out your junk drawers.) Please contact Mr. Loundy with any questions.

We also use a large amount of new consumables including:

  • Duct tape
  • Masking tape
  • Small-size low-temperature hot-glue sticks
  • Popsicle sticks
